A corner café built around one idea: stay a while
Ford and Tea opened in 2016 in a narrow shop that used to sell buttons. Hannah kept the old wooden shelves, added a coffee machine and a drawer full of tea, and never got around to buying a reservation book.
From a button shop to a full house
The name is a family joke. Hannah’s grandfather drove the same Ford Taunus for thirty years and drank tea out of a thermos in the driver’s seat. When the shop on Marktstraße came free, the name wrote itself.
The first winter we sold more hot chocolate than coffee, mostly to people sheltering from the rain on their way through the old town. Nine years later we have a terrace, two baking rounds a day, and a group of regulars who have their order started before they reach the till.
We still do things the simple way. Order at the counter, pay once, and the seat is yours for as long as you want it. If somebody needs a table and you have finished, you will probably offer it yourself — that is the kind of room it is.
The people who will greet you
Hannah Ford
